CU Hawaii is a credit union organized in May of 1955 as the Big Island Businessmen’s Federal Credit Union. As the credit union grew we changed our charter to be a community credit union and our name evolved with us and we became known as JCC Federal Credit Union. Our continued growth into one of Hawaii Island’s respected credit unions brought our final name change in June 2000. Further reflecting our vision for our members we are now known at CU Hawaii Federal Credit Union. Since that time our membership, assets, products, and services have grown making us the primary financial institution for many of our members.
CU Hawaii is well rooted in communities across all of Hawaii Island. We give back monetarily and in human resources by fundraising and participating in many community events and non-profit organizations that benefit our resident’s island wide. For CU Hawaii it is all about people helping people. Whether it’s in the financial arena or out in the community we are “leading the way” in everything we do!
As a community chartered credit union one of the following eligibility requirements must be met for membership into CU Hawaii Federal Credit Union: Person(s) living or working on the Island of Hawaii, Person(s) who regularly work, attend school, worship, perform volunteer services or participate in associations headquartered on the Island of Hawaii, Person(s) participating in programs to alleviate poverty or distress which are located on the Island of Hawaii, Incorporated and Unincorporated organizations on the Island of Hawaii or those maintaining a facility located on the Island of Hawaii, or Any immediate family member of a CU Hawaii member.
